What began as a casual hobby to distract him from his day job has become a passion that's taken over his life.

Morgan Seeley began taking weekend glassblowing workshops at Seattle's Pratt Fine Arts Center in 1993, then regular classes and advanced seminars at Pratt, and eventually summer classes at Pilchuck Glass School and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. Since October 2000, he and his wife Anne have worked together as Carberry Glassworks. They are co-owners of their own studio, located in the historic Sunny Arms Artists' Cooperative in South Seattle, www.sunnyarms.com.

"We aim to make beautiful pieces that can be put to everyday use. Functional vessels – pitchers, bowls, drinking glasses – that are simple, colorful, and elegant. We make shapes that invite the hand to touch and hold, and we use clear, bright, contrasting colors that please the eye and delight the senses. The pond floats are just for fun."

Over the years, Morgan has studied with a number of internationally recognized masters, including Lino Tagliapietra, Jan-Erik Ritzman, Richard Royal, and Fritz Dreisbach. He has also studied with many of the up-and-coming younger artists working in the Northwest-Preston Singleterry, Boyd Sugiki, Nancy Callan, Kait Rhoads, and Janusz Pozniak. Morgan has twice been a Poleturner at Pilchuck Glass School and was commissioned by Pratt Fine Arts Center to make gifts for major sponsors at its 20th annual art auction in May 2002.

Anne took a glassblowing class at Pratt Fine Arts Center in the Spring of 2000, just to see what all the buzz was about. She has since taken a number of additional classes from the Pratt pantheon and has given up her own day job to assist Morgan in the studio.
